Steve’s Suba Shallow Underwater Breathing Apparatus

Therebreathersite Steve Paige figurine2

This new home built rebreather is the combination of parts from five other rebreathers. Double hoses are from the Lar V made by Dräger, there are 4 check valves. The Scrubber is from a Fenzy rebreather, it cleans the CO2 going both ways (pendulum) for efficient absorption.  The oxygen tank is a Spare Air type tank with on and off valve. The Counter lung is made of a standard buoyancy vest . A regulator attached to spare air type tank is from a BioPak 45 allowing constant 0.9 liters per minute oxygen injected into to counterlung, in addition, the DSV is from a Dolphin semi closed rebreather. Most other parts are from standard from the hardware store.

Steve, thank you for this additional information of the rebreathers you have made!

Therebreathersite was founded by Jan Willem Bech in 1999. After a diving career of many years, he decided to start technical diving in 1999. He immediately noticed that at that time there was almost no website that contained the history of closed breathing systems. The start for the website led to a huge collection that offered about 1,300 pages of information until 2019. In 2019, a fresh start was made with the website now freely available online for everyone. Therebreathersite is a source of information for divers, researchers, technicians and students. I hope you enjoy browsing the content!
