Gürtel-Taucher-Apparat or Pionier tauchgerät

The Draeger Gurtel Taucher Apparat is made for dives up to a depth of 20 metres. The standard model TG-1 was made for dives up to 1 hour while model TG-2 was made for the same depth but for 2-hour dives. Besides these two models, there was another special type constructed for diving depths up to 80 metres with a dive time of 1 hour. The device feeds an rubber diving helmet via an oxygen rebreather. The recirculation principle differs little from a normal oxygen rebreather, but here the diver has a helmet that fits completely around the head. Incidentally, diving to 20 metres with pure oxygen would be extremely dangerous due to the oxygen poisoning occurring between 1.6 and 2.0 bar while this system should be used up to 3.0 bar oxygen pressure for 1 hour?
