W63P industrial and mining rebreather made by Polish FABER S.A.

Therebreathersite W63P 007

The W-63P is a self-contained isolating multi-hour oxygen apparatus. It is an upgraded version of the W-63 for use in mining and industrial settings.

The unit is a so-called side hose device. The breathing hoses are passed under the arm on 1 side.

The upgrade changed the location of a manometer. In the W-63 the manometer or a oxygen tank pressure gauge was fixed to the apparatus, however in an industrial W-63P version the gauge is connected to the apparatus via the rubber conduit, so that the user during operation can read the pressure.

The exhaled air is directed through an exhale valve to the CO2 absorber, which removes the carbon dioxide from it. Cleaned air is passed to the breathing bag on which the oxygen dispenser valve regulates the oxygen supply. If the volume of air is small the lever mounted on a breathing bag falls down actuating the said component – the oxygen is dosed in bigger amount. The oxygen is supplied directly to the inhale hose. Apparatus provides protection for as long as 4 hours, thus it is prefered in mining rescue operations.

Therebreathersite was founded by Jan Willem Bech in 1999. After a diving career of many years, he decided to start technical diving in 1999. He immediately noticed that at that time there was almost no website that contained the history of closed breathing systems. The start for the website led to a huge collection that offered about 1,300 pages of information until 2019. In 2019, a fresh start was made with the website now freely available online for everyone. Therebreathersite is a source of information for divers, researchers, technicians and students. I hope you enjoy browsing the content!
