The Dräger TR66, tauchretter
The tauchretter TR66 belongs in the range of tauchretters TR60, TR66 and TR75. The TR66 is a semi-closed system which uses a nitrox 50 mixture. The unit is specified for depths of up to 40 metres. As part of the mixture escapes through the overpressure valve, the diver will breathe a less rich mixture. Partly because the residence time will be short at depth, this dive depth is possible.
The unit is mounted on an assembly plate on which the regulator and bottle are fitted. The unit is equipped with a separate loop where the CO2 is washed out by the cartridge. The simple but very solidly constructed rebreather measures 400 x 360 x 180 mm in the storage bag. The unit has a weight of 8.3 kg.
The o.8-litre cylinder is filled with 200-bar EAN 50, making 160 litres of gas available. The dosing unit dispenses 3 ltr/min allowing a dive time of 45 minutes.
The TR66 came with goggles, a whistle, a safety lanyard and a hood with lamp to be visible in the sea during a rescue operation.
Since the TR60 is a SemiClosed rebreather please also check the Semi-Closed circuit section and this page
Therebreathersite was founded by Jan Willem Bech in 1999. After a diving career of many years, he decided to start technical diving in 1999. He immediately noticed that at that time there was almost no website that contained the history of closed breathing systems. The start for the website led to a huge collection that offered about 1,300 pages of information until 2019. In 2019, a fresh start was made with the website now freely available online for everyone. Therebreathersite is a source of information for divers, researchers, technicians and students. I hope you enjoy browsing the content!
