The CCR 2000 was designed by Boeing engineer Dan Wible from the USA. The rebreather had particularly modern features and was ahead of its time in many areas. Dan Wible is an inventor with an engineering background and a passion for SCUBA diving . He began diving at the age of ten on a double hose regulator and began deep water mixed gas diving on open SCUBA i n the early ‘ 80’ s. He paid
close attention to the first generation of rebreathers which were developed in the ’70 ‘s. Dan is now involved in training and educating people on rebreathers around the world. Dan Wible founded the Association of Underwater Rebreather Apparatuses , or AURA, in 1995.

Dan Wible= manufacturer of the CCR 2000, AURA = Associated Utility Rebreather Applications was USA-based training and certification company.

Unfortunately, little information is available about this rebreather. Should you own a manual or have pictures available I would be happy to add them to this CCR 2000 page. Any info is more than welcome. Unfortunately, I do not know who took these photos. They were sent to me 15 years ago by several divers and I have unfortunately lost the credits. Are any of these photos yours please let me know so I can add the correct credits!

Therebreathersite was founded by Jan Willem Bech in 1999. After a diving career of many years, he decided to start technical diving in 1999. He immediately noticed that at that time there was almost no website that contained the history of closed breathing systems. The start for the website led to a huge collection that offered about 1,300 pages of information until 2019. In 2019, a fresh start was made with the website now freely available online for everyone. Therebreathersite is a source of information for divers, researchers, technicians and students. I hope you enjoy browsing the content!
