450 meter Bailout systeem for Bell diving

In 1984, Dräger produced a closed breathing system in which the gas supply was fed to the diver via an umbilical. This allowed the diver to work almost indefinitely especially if there was a saturation dive. In case the system malfunctioned or the umbilical was damaged, the diver could breathe independently in a semi-closed circuit with the CCBS Bailout system worn on his back. The CCBS bailout system provided a dive time of 15-20 minutes. The system allowed the diver to stay 10 meters above or 30 meters below the bubble. The maximum dive depth was 450 meters and the set offered a breathing resistance of 1J/litre at a consumption of 75 l/min.

If anyone has a manual of the Bail-out 450 I would be very happy to add it to this page. Any photos or information is welcome!

Therebreathersite was founded by Jan Willem Bech in 1999. After a diving career of many years, he decided to start technical diving in 1999. He immediately noticed that at that time there was almost no website that contained the history of closed breathing systems. The start for the website led to a huge collection that offered about 1,300 pages of information until 2019. In 2019, a fresh start was made with the website now freely available online for everyone. Therebreathersite is a source of information for divers, researchers, technicians and students. I hope you enjoy browsing the content!
